I'm an award-winning writer and director from the Isle of Mull, and I'm currently working across theatre and film as an assistant director and script supervisor in addition to developing my own work. Important things about me? I think panto is High Art and my curly fringe has been described as 'dreamy'.
In the Before Times... Under the name Cat Loud, I created, performed and produced my own critically-acclaimed dark and dreamy cabaret for five years, gigging around the UK before sitting down to finally write that screenplay in early 2020.
And now... My writing dives deep into folklore, feminism and mundane-but-uncanny fantasy, while striving to wear a huge heart on its sleeve. Visually, I've got an eye for the macabre, the surreal and unlikely combinations of people, places and things. My work often blends sharp social commentary with absurdist humour, and I love to explore the intersection between visual storytelling and music.
I'm passionate about subverting quaint narratives that often characterise the Hebrides, will always fight for rural inclusion within the cultural landscape of Scotland, and am currently developing a slate of vibrant shorts, features and telly pilots with women, dramatic vistas and revolution in mind.
I'm also the founder of Mull-based production and creative storytelling company Machair Media. The company seeks to collaborate with artists across artistic disciplines to make exciting moving image work, as well as offer learning events and labs that nurture creativity.
